Meeting Josh Absenger . For the Austrian freeskier what matters more is passion.
Tell us how you started skiing and why you switched to freeskiing?
I started skiing when I was 3 years old. My brother and me were always cruising beside the piste for jumping. Actually I switched to freeskiing when the first freestyle skis came to Europe in 1999/ 2000.
This sport gives you so much different options and opportunities. I am thankful for that.
What are you doing now? I know that you are pretty busy with your video production ….
That´s true. Right now we are working on a video project. It´s called “IN THE NOW”We work on 4 episodes through the whole season. Actually we are in East Tirol for filming our second episode. Searching for fresh pow and urban spots. Our second episode is dropping end of January. So stay tuned.
Which are some videos that you think will be more successful in the future?
I think a film should bring skiing in his easiest way. Every sport what you love do to, gives you freedom and balance. It´s about having fun times with your friends.
Where are you skiing usually?
Mostly I am in Flachauwinkl at Absolut Park. This area offers you tons of options. You can ski one of the best parks in Europe here, and the backcountry is super fun.
Which are the best parks in your area?
What can we do in your area to enjoy the evening?
Austria is famous for the Apres Ski and their good food. Lots of Bars and Apres Ski Clubs.
I prefer going out for a good dinner.
One of the last project that Josh done is his photobook “ What matters more is passion “ with awesome action photos . “it was always a wish of mine to create a photobook “ says Josh “ I spent the last years working together with photographers and we were able to get some good shoot for the book. “
